We are continuously developing new and improved technologies, ingredients, and manufacturing processes. Since 2019, we have been actively seeking alternatives and have gradually eliminated fluorine chemistry from our global production facilities - STR in the USA, APT in Australia, and Polytex in Germany. This was achieved by removing a fluorinated polymer from the production process of synthetic turf and using a new generation of polymer processing aids that are free of fluorinated chemistry. This proactive innovation already exceeded the regulations in place at the time, positioning us as industry leaders in the elimination of PFAS today. The Sport Group complies with all applicable legal regulations worldwide, including REACH in the EU. Certain U.S. states also impose relevant requirements that our products adhere to globally. For instance, California has the California Health and Safety Code 108945, which represents the strictest regulations to date. In 2023, products manufactured by STR in Dalton, GA, were tested by independent laboratories and meet this California standard, which sets a PFAS threshold using a screening method for total organic fluorine, specifically for children's products. Compliance with this standard determines the limit at which a product is considered 'PFAS-free.' We will continue to have our products independently tested each year as part of our internal audit processes.
The health and safety of its customers, employees, and the environment are top priorities for the Sport Group. We are transforming our products with green technology and have an independent ESG rating (Environmental, Social, and Governance) that ranks the company in the top 7% of more than 15,000 companies worldwide. Sport Group turf is sold globally either directly through our own companies AstroTurf, Polytan, and APT, or through our independent distribution network.
