In Munich's new urban quarter Arnulfpark, a primary school was completed in 2013 that received the prestigious „DAM Prize for Architecture in Germany 2014“ from the German Architecture Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt due to its exemplary high architectural and spatial quality. To ensure that the primary school students are not given a dominant design but instead have room for their own creativity, the planners deliberately limited the choice of building materials to exposed concrete, wood, and glass. Color accents are provided exclusively by the covered track and the all-weather court, which consist of the Polytan S synthetic surface in may green. The architects chose the UV-resistant standard color may green from Polytan because they particularly liked the freshness and brightness of the shade – which not only visibly deviates from the traditional red of most school sports facilities but also reflects daylight into the interior of the building in the area of the covered 50-meter track.
