In June and July 2015, nine final round matches of the FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada were held at BC Place Stadium, including the final on July 5. Ultimately, the US women took home the coveted trophy for the third time after a 5-2 victory in the final against Japan. They owed the title win, among other things, to perhaps the most beautiful goal of the tournament, scored on a brand-new synthetic turf by Polytan: a precise 48-meter shot straight into the opposing goal.
