PolyPlay Arena & PolyPlay S in the Palmano facility, Wasserburg am Inn
The medieval old town of Wasserburg am Inn is almost completely preserved and sits on a peninsula almost entirely surrounded by the river. At the heart of the old town lies the Palmanopark, a popular meeting point for young and old alike. The small park, created in the last century as Wasserburg's first green space, is now home to majestic trees providing shade and numerous benches inviting visitors to relax. The playground within the park is a favorite for children, while sports enthusiasts enjoy the bocce court, the ping pong table, and several exercise equipment stations designed especially for seniors. The latest addition, however, is a multifunctional mini sports field where exciting basketball or soccer matches can be played – action guaranteed. Since the playground area could not be expanded on the ground, the solution was to add a PolyPlay Arena on top of an existing underground parking garage.
The PolyPlay Arena is equipped with our durable multi-purpose surface PolyPlay S, which is primarily used on sports fields and facilities for school sports, ball games, and recreational activities. With its smooth yet non-slip surface and excellent ball bounce properties, it provides the ideal base for all kinds of ball sports and a variety of outdoor applications. Thanks to its water-permeable design, the field dries quickly and is available year-round as an all-weather facility. Additional advantages include high wear resistance and minimal maintenance requirements.
The PolyPlay S surface in Wasserburg was installed in patina green. Various line markings in yellow, blue, and orange make it suitable for basketball, street soccer, and handball games. A standout feature is the modern anti-vandalism nets made from coated metal mesh, which are durable yet noise-reducing – a unique innovation for mini sports fields. Additionally, the multisport surface is outfitted with our “PolyPlay Arena Silence Package,” which includes specially dense LigaGrass synthetic turf lining the inner sides of the boards to enhance the comprehensive noise reduction approach of the facility.
The upgrade enhances the appeal of the Palmano facility, contributing positively to the entire old town of Wasserburg. State parliament member Klaus Stöttner praised the expansion, stating: "It fits perfectly, especially since the namesake, Josef Palmano, a Wasserburg pharmacist who lived from 1849 to 1910, was already an advocate for sports in Wasserburg during his time."
