Polytan Rekortan M in the Italian town of Sestriere
Summer, sun, balmy nights – in our eyes, that's Italian dolce vita. But Italy has another side to it. For instance, in Sestriere, located over two thousand meters above sea level at the mountain pass between Val Chisone and Susa Valleys, surrounded by mountains that reach and sometimes even exceed the three-thousand-meter mark – offering a breathtaking backdrop in clear weather. However, the average annual temperature here is just 2.9°C, the lowest of all Italian towns and cities. Sestriere is a regular venue for alpine skiing World Cup races and hosted the alpine skiing events during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. But this small town, with a population of barely 1,000, is not solely devoted to winter sports. The Sestriere Sport Center, with a total area of 45,000 square meters, is Italy's largest high-altitude sports center and also serves as the National Sports Center of ASI Nazionale. The heart of the sports center is a multifunctional arena with fitness rooms, squash courts, a multipurpose court for tennis, basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer. Additionally, it features a climbing hall and a wellness area with a sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool, and relaxation zone. The facility also includes a football field with artificial turf, which last year was encircled by an eight-lane competition track. Polytan Rekortan M was installed here, the professional-grade surface among our athletic sports floors, ideal for track and field activities. It stands out for its excellent acceleration for fast training and competition times as well as its spring elasticity. Additionally, it impresses with optimal damping and outstanding sports medicine values. The track's color, rainbow blue with white markings, is perfectly suited to Sestriere, with its clear blue sky and the often snow-covered peaks even in summer. The sports center and competition track are also used by the Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano, the umbrella organization of Italian sports associations, as an Olympic training center. And that's not all – the Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera (FIDAL), Italy's athletics federation, uses the facility as a training center, since the track is certified according to FIDAL and World Athletics standards.
