Rekortan M RT and Polytan SMART at Stade Paul Petitpoisson, Compiègne, France
Few cities symbolize the tragic dimensions of the violent conflicts between Germany and France in the 20th century as much as Compiègne. This northern French city became famous for the signing of two armistices between the two military powers - the first armistice of Compiègne ended World War I in 1918, and the second marked France's capitulation to the German Wehrmacht in 1940. Nowadays, the clearing of Compiègne is a tourist attraction dedicated to Franco-German reconciliation. Today, Compiègne is primarily known as the starting point of the annual cycling classic Paris–Roubaix. The athletics stadium Stade Paul Petitpoisson is considered a stadium with the highest level of facilities. The sports complex, covering an area of approximately 20,000 m², features a 400 m long track with 8 lanes, a 60 m long sprint track, as well as facilities for long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, and all throwing disciplines. The complex is also suitable for triathlon training sessions, as there is a swimming pool with a large basin nearby and numerous cycling routes in the area. The sports center is connected to an administration area that includes meeting rooms, a medical station, and a treatment and physiotherapy room. A weight room complements the offerings for athletes. In preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games, the stadium and its ancillary buildings were completely renovated and expanded in 2022. Additions included doping control and video review rooms. As part of the renovation, all tracks were updated with our Rekortan M RT – using Polytan's Re-Topping procedure, worn and dilapidated synthetic surfaces are completely refurbished both technically and visually. This is an extremely economical and sustainable solution for the renovation of sports facilities, as the existing elastic substructures can be reused and do not need to be disposed of.In addition to the renewed surfaces in Red and Chili Red, Polytan SMART, our highly precise system for professional performance diagnostics, was installed. It is primarily used for classic track and field running disciplines and enables performance optimization through digital performance diagnostics. Polytan SMART can be integrated into both new and existing sports facilities. Once installed, it is available anytime and unrestrictedly for precise measurements – regardless of the weather and for multiple athletes simultaneously. In Compiègne, the system can also measure approaches for long jump or pole vault. This ensures training content and performance are accurately recorded, documented, and analyzed. The Stade Paul Petitpoisson is primarily used by the sports club "VGA Compiègne" with more than 500 members. Due to its comprehensive and high-quality facilities, the Stade Paul Petitpoisson not only regularly hosts national competitions but has also risen to become one of the training centers for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.
