Green technology under the spikes — the new track at Waldstadion Melsungen

The new athletics at Waldstadion Melsungen, a breath of fresh air is blowing through one of the most traditional sports facilities in North Hesse. The Melsunger Turngemeinde 1861 e.V. — a club with over 160 years of history — a modern training and competition facility is now available, which offers ideal conditions for young clubs as well as ambitious athletes.

The many children and young people who regularly take part in the club's child-friendly athletics training are particularly pleased with the new facility. Thanks to continuous work with young talent, several successes have already been achieved at state and federal level in recent years.

The Melsungen Forest Stadium was installed at Waldstadion Melsungen Rekortan GEL GT In brick red — a career covering that meets all the requirements of World Athletics and can therefore be approved for international competitions. The innovative gel-based PU technology ensures long-lasting strength reduction and joint-friendly cushioning. Thanks to in-situ processing, a flat surface is created that guarantees perfect conditions for training and competition.

The durable top layer with EPDM granules is suitable for spikes and therefore for top-class sports. The Rekortan GEL GT is available in 12 colors and is part of Polytan's Green Technology portfolio. The high-tech flooring is made from around 60% renewable raw materials. In this way, the surface combines ecological responsibility with top sporting performance.

It is not only the Melsunger gymnastics community that benefits from the new circular track: The neighboring sports community is also benefiting from the new circular track Radko Stöckl School uses the new facility for physical education — an advantage for school sports in the region.
