Polytan LigaTurf Cross GTzero at Wildpark Karlsruhe
After nearly four months of construction, a new artificial turf pitch has been completed at Wildpark Karlsruhe. The highlight: Our LigaTurf Cross GTzero is the first CO2-neutral football turf for both professional and grassroots sports. With this, the KSC is setting a highly visible benchmark for environmental friendliness and sustainability. The Wildpark Stadium in Karlsruhe is the center of an area comprising various sports and practice fields. Reconstruction started in November 2018 to transform it into a dedicated football arena accommodating around 35,000 spectators. In the first construction phase, a new artificial turf pitch was built between June and October 2020. "With the KSC fan facility, our fans made this first step possible," Michael Becker thanked the approximately 1,800 supporters. The pitch is used by teams from the KSC GRENKE aKAdemie. Construction of the pitch was carried out by Becker GmbH for Garden and Landscape Design from Zuzenhausen. The special feature of this artificial turf is that its fibers consist of renewable raw materials. Our new LigaTurf Cross GTzero, the world's first certified CO2-neutral artificial turf for football, whose filaments are composed of 80% bio-based polymer material (PE), was installed. Polytan LigaTurf Cross GTzero is suitable for professional training facilities, amateur and professional clubs, sports schools, and municipal sports facilities. The CO2-neutral artificial turf at the Wildpark area is a flagship project for the entire "Ländle" (region), as it is the first of its kind in Baden-Württemberg. Additionally, the pitch was consistently filled with quartz sand, completely avoiding microplastics from rubber granule infills.
